Marilyn
Diamond in the rough, girl with a dream
Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend
But with star potential, just looking for love
This is the story of Norma Jean
L.A. Baby with a troubled past
Just looking for a chance to escape
Brunette beauty- a true misfit
Who knew she’d dye great?
After being told “no”, incessantly
She never gave up, always tried
To be recognized and to make something of herself
She longed to escape their lies
Now everyone’s saying “yes” to this damaged mistress
All for the wrong reasons
Miss Monroe’s just looking for real love
While herself she’s trying to improve on
Plantinum Blonde Bombshell felt lonely inside
Did anyone understand her at all?
The cameras and the fame sculpted her
While deep inside she was falling apart
Booze was her best friend, the pearls gave her comfort
Behind closed doors she could fix herself
When everyone else was in love with the idea, not her
Did they really love this vulnerable mess?
Hollywood wanted her body but not her soul
As the days passed she felt insecure
“What happens when the cameras turn off?’
She began to wonder
“What happens when I grow old?”
Don’t Bother to Knock, as she rehearses her lines
She’s just trying to be perfect
In the mirror, she looks, trying to find herself
Her Hollywood Heaven’s becoming her Hell
Dazzling, Glamorous, Enchanting- the critics label her
As she slowly starts to decay
But she still smiles and winks, for them pretty cameras
Maybe she can captivate the voices away
Immortal Goddess can’t take it no more
She feels the time has finally come
For the curtains to drop, she feels no one cares
As far as she’s concerned, she’s done
Pleasure in pills and solace in booze
She lies peacefully in bed
This timeless beauty’s created a legend
At just 36, Marilyn’s dead
Have I ever told you guys how much I love Marilyn Monroe?
Spent most of yesterday reading biographies, watching interviews and watched “Norman Jean & Marilyn”, ugh as gorgeous and reputable as she was, you’d be stunned to see how beneath the beauty lied a flawed and vulnerable persona. She was quite brilliant though, contrary to popular belief.
So so tragic.

I find stories about self destructive pop cultural icons particularly interesting idk…
